Story
Ataegina was an isolated world of medieval castles, varied cultures, and conquests, vibrant until the demons rose and spread relentless destruction. Swarms of lethal creatures with black husks, murderous claws, barbed tails, and dreaded “tooth-tongues” raged through the lowlands, killing 90 percent of the planet’s population. Terrified survivors fled to hidden mountain keeps where they eke out a meager existence. When a trio of young warriors discovers a new weapon, they see a chance to end this curse. To save humanity, they must fight.

Not for everyone
The multiple stories with different narrator's just threw me off, I found myself not really following the stories as carefully, while some of the stories were brilliant I felt I didn't give the attention needed for others.
Come into this audio book knowing this is multiple stories and a different narrator for each, some you will like some you won't and the stories are short.

Mixed bag
There are a couple of really good stories in here. Especially the plots about other missions unrelated to the main Aliens. Rebel Wars, A history documentary about the pulse rifle, Missions involving leaked bio weapons or swarms of alien locusts. Peeks into what an extended universe might look like.
The bad stories are the ones that try to insert new plots about the main Alien species into main characters backstories. Its as if the aliens are all over the place and incredibly common which makes them less impactful. A few stories create new alien species that also seem more deadly than the Aliens.

Very Good Original stories
If you like Sci Fi. You will love these short stories. Just enough meat to fill your drive to work. My favorite is "The Protector" a view from an Alien Warrior's prospective.

More than bugs
I loved the way this told more than just the stock standard xeno mission. Though those stories are great and definitely added to the expanded story, it was the wider world the writers played with which gave it the score I put. It was also great to have various narrators through out. Kept it from getting boring. Lots of fun, well worth the time. Enjoyed it more than the ‘sea of sorrows’ story.

Great Expanded View of the Franchise
For the most part I loved this anthology. As a lifelong fan of the Aliens franchise it was incredibly compelling hearing the setting being expanded by such excellent stories. The only one I found awkward to listen to was Darkness Falls, by Heather Graham, which suffers from an excess of in-dialogue exposition. Otherwise, however, Bug Hunt has easily become one of my favourite Aliens books, and it has my hearty recommendation.

An interesting addition to the series.
I quite enjoyed this look into Alien lore, and especially liked the way existing locations are tied in to a few stories, taking part in parallel to the other installments in the series, but off to the side.

Xenotastic!
It's been a delight and refreshing series of short stories. Every story had its own angle and timeline, some familiar, others more conceptual. Always enjoyed listening to what journey the authors put me through.
Even though a couple stories had a slower start, they all held their place and had me riveted.
Value for money, Worth the experience and credit.

Solid Performances but Weak Stories
Some good stories but also some very ordinary ones. A real mixed bag only for the hardcore Alien fans
