Publisher's Summary

When an industrial spy steals a Xenomorph egg, former Colonial Marine Zula Hendricks must prevent an alien from killing everyone on an isolated colony planet.

Venture, a direct rival to the Weyland-Yutani corporation, will accept any risk to crush the competition. Thus, when a corporate spy "acquires" a bizarre, leathery egg from a hijacked vessel, she takes it directly to the Venture testing facility on Jericho 3.

Though unaware of the danger it poses, the scientists there recognize their prize's immeasurable value. Early tests reveal little, however, and they come to an inevitable conclusion. They need a human test subject....

Enter Zula Hendricks.

A member of the Jericho 3 security staff, Colonial Marines veteran Zula Hendricks has been tasked with training personnel to deal with anything the treacherous planet can throw their way. Yet nothing can prepare them for the horror that appears - a creature more hideous than any Zula has encountered before.

Unless stopped, it will kill every human being on the planet.

Mostly a Fine Tale... Mostly

Voice performance: excellent. Story could be less exhaustively detailed without losing plot quality. Still worthwhile!

Tale of two halves

Not the best Alien audiobook, wasn't keen on the narrator. The first half was a bit hard to follow with some really cringy woke elements to the characters but the second half got lively and I ended up enjoying it.

Unique twist on the xenomorph

I thought the story was really good lots of action and fast paced. There were a couple of cliche's that story fell victim to such as the the typical evil male scientist and the typical strong female protagonist usually found in Aliens novels. As well the narrator was a bit dry at times and couldn't really detect much emotion in her words when read. Overall still a very good listen.

Poor science kept on taking me out of the story

Yes, I know Aliens is a bit of a gonzo universe, but in most stories, the science part of the fiction is consistent and modestly realistic. This story has a virus with personal drives and that work like mustard gas, and computer hacking by mortal combat. The later is a pet peeve of mine, and is a sign of poor writing of AI technology.
Given the quality of the science in the AvP Blood War trilogy, this paint by the numbers book was a disappointment.

Not bad at all

Serving as a story to fill in what Zula was doing immediately before the events of Resitance, it’s a pretty interesting addition to lore and expands on the mutation factor with xenos. Usual death and slaughter occurs en masse but in the end it’s a satisfying and thrilling end which felt well done. You get hints at what might happen and at times it’s rinse-and-repeat alien material but at other points it’s genuinely exciting and surprising!
Great narration and characters, albeit a little trope and predictable. Would have been a great opportunity for a full cast however.

Woke in space

Was excited to see 2 new Alien books to listen to but unfortunately they are both woke trash!
Another franchise ruined :(

Embarrassing

by far not the worst book I've consumed but definitely the worst in this IP and the authors predilections towards making every woman in the book unsaleable and every man unreasonably evil lead me to predict the ending only any hour and a half into the book.
