Publisher's Summary

After 40 years with his beloved wife, Henry is alone for the first time. His sudden bachelorhood is a struggle for him and his daughter Lisa, who is feeling pressure to fill the void. To give Henry the companionship he’s craving, Lisa buys him a personal robotic assistant. The device transforms Henry’s life and inspires him to embrace the possibility of romance during his golden years. This hilarious and touching play explores love, loss, and the real connection humans can have with technology - once you figure out how the heck to use it.

Touché- You Touched A Spot That Found My Soul

Love is not easy for some of us. Even when we love so long and so hard. The human psyche wants to remember the good and happier timed for most of us and for others that feels like dishonesty. For our protagonists or pro-antagonists this was not the case in relation to mom / Alexa (even if it is Product Placement - yes - and so skillfully is it done that it works without awkwardness). Love was easy - idyllic even. What’s not easy now is the hard reality of going on with out her. Their perfect isosceles triangle has lost one of the long sides and dad and daughter both grasping for love and connections with the other are in danger of extending their lives out without the love and caring they knew keeping them in the circle of family embrace.

I am truly moved, as I - now in my 70th year - can easily see, hear & feel the parallels in my life. This is a well done compassionate story that touched me give it half a chance and I think it will do the same for you.

I am so grateful that I took the time this evening to listen to this book. I highly recommended it. It brought light to my living situation right now. And it offered hope. We all need hope and love right now. Don't pass this one by.

Excellent voice acting

Engaging and timely story. Would have been enhanced by less course language. Dropping the F- on everything from spilled tea to a poor memory only shows a lack of vocabulary. It was also odd that this Jewish family frequently used ‘Christ’ as a swear word.
Each performer played their role with natural ease. The poise in Beth’s voice tells the listener so much about her. Deep fluctuating emotion can be felt through Maria’s character. Judd Hirsch’s accent and deep gravelly voice was perfectly caste for the part.
Overall the short story was a joy to listen to. Hat’s off to the writer. I laughed out loud several times and that’s been rare these days.

Cute

This was a super cute listen about an elderly man who lost his wife and is struggling with how to continue on without her. His daughter gets him an Alexa to keep him company. While he doesn’t totally understand how to use it, he ends up asking her questions to fill the space that his wife used to take.

This was a cute and a meaningful lesson about understanding grief and that when you are ready, someone will always be there to listen.

Judd Hirsch was a fantastic lead voice actor!

I really enjoyed this short story on audible. indeed, this story needed to be told in audio format. I enjoyed the story of love and loss, father daughter relationships and a little bit of romance. the extra delight was the side story about using technology. after looking through a variety of audible plus content, it was nice to see a highly rated audiobook and it did not disappoint. I will definitely look for other audiobooks featuring Judd Hirsch as narrator or voice actor. the two other actresses were fantastic as well. I am new to audible, but my early observations are that I prefer nonfiction read by the author, or fiction played by outstanding actors, and not a single narrator trying to play multiple characters.

Some humor, but plenty of warmth

I had expected dark humor but was pleasantly surprised to find a short but warm story that deals elegantly with closure, grief, and loneliness, all while having some light moments via classic human-machine wordplay comedy. The narrators were awesome too.

Ok-ish

It was OK but I didn't really like it. A man is lonely since losing his wife, Alexa. His daughter gets him an Alexa to talk to. He makes believe he is talking to his wife and it does seem to help him before moving on.

His daughter is just irritated with him half the time and her voice and tone of voice grated on my nerves - even though the voice acting is clearly good. She also suddenly changed her tune/attitude at one point which seemed weird. Sometimes Alexa stops talking when asked and sometimes she keeps going on when told to stop multiple times. It was a little confusing how the Amazon Alexa and the voice of his late wife were almost the same.
