Publisher's Summary

A library apprentice, a sorcerer prince, and an unbreakable magic bond....

The Solaris Empire is one conquest away from uniting the continent, and the rare elemental magic sleeping in 17-year-old library apprentice Vhalla Yarl could shift the tides of war.

Vhalla has always been taught to fear the Tower of Sorcerers, a mysterious magic society, and has been happy in her quiet world of books. But after she unknowingly saves the life of one of the most powerful sorcerers of them all - the Crown Prince Aldrik - she finds herself enticed into his world. Now she must decide her future: embrace her sorcery and leave the life she's known, or eradicate her magic and remain as she's always been. And with powerful forces lurking in the shadows, Vhalla's indecision could cost her more than she ever imagined.

Absolutely incredible, a haunting magical world I can't wait to see more of.

This story was wonderful. It started out a little slow but after a few chapters I was hooked. I loved reading as the main character grew and developed into herself. someone compelling and willful. The world the story takes place in is rich and well rounded and the romance feels so honest and real that I found myself falling in love along side our heroine. Anyone who enjoys fantasy is missing out if they don't give this book a chance.

Like avatar- ang and zoko star crossed lovers

Phenomena story keeps you interested- very similar world to avatar the last airbender and thus a MUST for avatar fans.

Good, but feels rushed in the beginning

The first half of the book feels rushed and there are places where I feel like more focus on the backstory/why things are happening would have been nice.
I really do like the story itself, but the way it was written in the beginning just seems a little off to me

What to do when you can only listen to half a book

Would you try another book from Elise Kova and/or Devan McGaughey?

I would. I am actually looking forward to more of Kova's audiobooks.

What other book might you compare Air Awakens to and why?

Not sure I can. Reminds me slightly of the third book in the throne of glass series.

How could the performance have been better?

If I could have the second half of the recording that would be great. Sadly this audiobook only repeats the first half of the book at chapter 21.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Air Awakens?

Not any currently.

Any additional comments?

I absoultly loved the first half of this book. The writing was amazing, Devan read it very well in my opinion and wasnt like those stuffy people who only read in monotone. She added life to the characters and I adored this book.

Love this series

Any additional comments?

I have this entire series in hardcovers and I love it so much that I bought the audiobook too. This narrator is great at bringing the characters to life and I like her pacing. I'm kind of tired of hearing the one kind of voice that all female narrators seem to use, so I'm really glad to hear someone read a little differently for once. It fits the tone of the story. Not all of the characters are how I imagined them, but in a good way. And Elise Kova is amazing at world-building so I just get sucked in. Now I have to go read the books again!

A great listen

I really enjoyed this book. I’ve seen some people say it’s similar to Avatar the Last Airbender, which I agree with in regard to the magic elemental powers based on region, but beyond that - it’s a very different story. Of course, it’s also fantastical, but it has a very different story and plot. I highly suggest this to anyone interested in fantasy (and romance)!

Everything changed when the fire nation Attacked.

I haven't finished yet but I already the avatar comparison is so strong! it's not awful though.

Bad narrator, boring plot, typical characters

Didn't like pretty much anything about this. The narrator wasn't just bad - the audio quality was bad too. The plot was predictable and boring. And I'm tired of reading books that seem like they'll center around a female lead becoming empowered only to find that the female character acts like a damsel the whole time. Any times she shows power she forgets about and she always seems like she's in a state of confusion and ignorance. Waste of a credit.

so far<br />

I love it so far and I'm really hoping it isn't one of those series with a good first book and an awful following

Nearly missed this gem of a book.

This is a wonderful and exciting fantasy romance. The narrator is terrible as she reads too quickly. I slowed her down to .75 then she is ok. I would recommend doing the same as the story is too good to miss.
