About this listen

The Age of Glass dawns, a fragile era balanced on the edge of oblivion. Will it shatter beneath the relentless hammer of fate?

From the depths of despair to the pinnacle of power, Matt's ascension to Dungeon Lord has been a crucible of blood and terror. But the higher he climbs, the more precarious his perch becomes. As winter's fingers close around his hard-won domain, Matt and his beleaguered allies yearn for respite. Instead, they face a nightmare beyond imagining. The Coronaught infection sweeps through the land like wildfire, twisting human flesh into abominations that defy sanity. Grotesque mutations stalk the shadows, their hunger insatiable. In this maelstrom of horror, Matt must be more than a leader—he must become a legend.

With each agonizing decision, the weight of command threatens to crush his spirit. Can he salvage the humanity of the infected, or will the price of compassion be too steep? Nuclear fire looms on the horizon, a cleansing inferno that promises annihilation. How much of his soul will Matt sacrifice to shield his people from the coming storm? In the bowels of the earth, Matt labors to transform his dungeon into an impregnable fortress. But in a world where loyalty shatters like spun sugar, yesterday's allies may become tomorrow's executioners. Survival exacts a terrible toll, paid in blood and betrayal.

Getting better atleast ,

Pros: The main character atleast made some growing up, less selfish and more caring to other people. that's a character progression a little too late very slow burn but ok so far....

Cons: Too much talking that aren't related to what they are doing even when In the middle of the fights. maybe it's a way to introduce the side characters story but it's just stupid to insert it in when they are doing it when their life is in danger.

Much much better story than last one.

First and foremost this review is not stating this is a bad series, merely one that needs a bit of work. I still would recommend the book if you have made it this far in the series, but keep in mind the below.

This series captured my eye from the beginning. I remember being intrigued by the way the author approached the genre and story. I liked the dungeon lord, almost kingdom building component. Then got pulled in further with the lord of the Storm plot.

But all of this has sort of stalled in my opinion. Further to that I found myself getting annoyed at the author for making unnecessary problems or character “debuffs” if you will.

For example without ruining the story, Matt would go into a huge fight and not have any manna whatsoever. Or It will be full but last literately 2 seconds and be incredibly weak. Wtf. Not to mention his storm class wasn’t mentioned or had any progress until the last few chapters. Even then it was minimal and kind of redundant.

This series feels like it isn’t really making meaningful progress towards his big goals. It’s almost like the author is stalling with Matt running around doing low level redundant stuff that the author just made up on the spot.

This stalling is then filled with unnecessary filler comments and conversations. For example they will be explaining something and then the explanation will take literally 20 minutes when it could been completed within a single paragraph. Or the entire part will literally have no meaning to the story at all, like the epilogue. Wtf was that. It was literally 10 minutes of Kelly being jealous and bitching to Fin.

I really hope the next book addresses some of these issues. The author did a really good job in the beginning. I believe he needs to go back to that and keep in mind the audience of the series. “Generally” speaking, it’s going to be men filling the vast majority and women being the minority audience.

Men generally like to listen to characters that consistently make meaningful leaps towards the laid out story and goals. I don’t give a rats ass about 20mins of bitching or feelings. Just make progress. The character doesn’t have to be a god, incredibly strong or powerful. Just make meaningful progress. That’s it.

At the bare minimum the book just needs to pick up momentum with the “BIG” goals and themes laid out in the previous books. If the next book doesn’t address that at least, this series is going to peter off and die with the next book. I truly hope that doesn’t occur, as I really do like the series. It just needs a little work.

Not Bad but Needs Some Work

the premise of the story is enjoyable, I'm always excited to hear about the upgrades coming and what that will mean for everyone's survival. the writing or delivery of the dialogue between characters is a burden to listen to though. overly explained interactions of grins, smirks, curses and yeah's.

the dialogue is really painful
