Publisher's Summary

If you want to discover the captivating history of the Age of Discovery, then pay attention....

The Age of Discovery began in the early part of the 15th century and carried on through most of the 17th century. It is sometimes also referred to as the Age of Exploration. This was a time when the people of Europe began to travel, discover, and explore more of the world than ever before, mapping and naming the places they found. They bravely went out on the seas to learn about the world, often never sure if they would find anything at all, let alone ever return home.

The explorations made during this time would impact the shape of the world going forward in many ways. Colonization, trade, and education all changed due to the expansion of the known world, as well as international relationships.

Middle school storytelling. Not recommended .

The writers tell stories of several individual explorers. Not mature history. Of course, the narrator has a British accent.

Loved it easy to understand.

If you require to know history, then explaining new roots is important. Columbus was not a freak. Anyone who wants to learn his writings will understand this.

Awesome audiobook

This is entertainment. I like history and the lengths these men went to believe that land "was just around the edge" is just incredible.

A must listen! The authors, brilliantly described in detail how we are in a new Renaissance, starting in 1990, much like the original one of 1450-1550, initially centered around Florence and Venice, Italy.

mind blowing

When I was in college I was fascinated by the renaissance which occurred in Europe in the 1400s and 1500s. The authors of this book suggest we are in a renaissance now and by understanding the old one from 1450 to 1550 we can better understand and take advantage of all the new one has to offer.

The authors point out that although globalization was supposed to minimize risk, our pursuit of common monetary goals has created hubs of activity and thus made everyone vulnerable to unforeseen risks.

Age of Discovery is a must-listen for everyone, especially if the development and history of scientific discoveries are your things. It details our scientific successes from the Renaissance era and reveals to us how today, once again, requirements are ripe for creating a new golden age that will be remembered for centuries in the future.

In many ways, this is a difficult book to review. It is quite difficult to describe also. Yet it is something that gives a lot of good general knowledge and it throws out a lot of great things to think about. It is a serious book, about a serious subject. I love it.

The authors point out that although globalization was supposed to minimize risk, our pursuit of common monetary goals has created hubs of activity and thus made everyone vulnerable to unforeseen risks. Radical thoughts and actions are taking root in every democratic society. But for all these immediate risks, we are in a much better position, if you look at the last thousand plus years. The call here is to be cautious, but also to take risks, be courageous, and make bold moves.

The authors acknowledge the skeptics who state that civilization is running into an era of economic stagnation.
