Katherine Kressmann Taylor, 1903 in Portland geboren und von Beruf Werbetexterin, lehrte seit den 40er Jahren am Gettysburg College. Ihr bekanntestes Werk "Adressat unbekannt" erschien bereits 1938, wurde aber erst Jahrzehnte später in Europa bekannt. Die Mutter von drei Kindern verstarb 1997.
