The contents of this book was eye opening. I am beginning to grasp an understanding of how a person can be motivated. I will certainly be thinking of the octalysis framework in my next design.

has some really good content, but is twice as long as it needs to be. The author spends way too much time trying to spruik his brand, workshops, and website - also asking the listener to share things on social media with his hashtag.
He also makes some strange suggestions such as memorizing which numbers correspond to which category - it just isn't an effective use of time and muddies you communication.

Could have been great. Solid foundation.

As a teacher trying to engage my students this guide opens up the complex world of motivation that the game industry has mastered and my student without knowing it have a deep intrinsic understanding that I can tap into to make the most complex or mundane tasks exciting and engaging. Awesome for anyone wanting to increase motivation regardless of your intending "gamers"/audience/staff!!!!
