About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Read by award-winning narrator Jeff Harding.

**NOW A MAJOR PRIME TV SERIES STARRING ALAN RITCHSON**

Jack Reacher jumps off a bus and walks fourteen miles down a country road into Margrave, Georgia. An arbitrary decision he's about to regret. Reacher is the only stranger in town on the day they have had their first homicide in thirty years.

The cops arrest Reacher and the police chief turns eyewitness to place him at the scene. As nasty secrets leak out, and the body count mounts, one thing is for sure. They picked the wrong guy to take the fall.

Although the Jack Reacher novels can be listened to in any order, Killing Floor is the first audiobook in the internationally popular series. It presents Reacher for the first time, as the tough ex-military cop of no fixed abode: a righter of wrongs, the perfect action hero.

"This was the first Jack Reacher novel and with its lean, spare prose it has one of the most intriguing heroes of our times and displays a gift for explosive drama." (Daily Express)

‘Jeff Harding’s [...] narration captures Reacher’s character perfectly [...] you have to savour every minute.’

I love Lee Child and all his Jack Reacher books but I could barely listen to this narration. His accent wasn't at all like I'd expect an American Serviceman, who'd hardly stepped foot in America, to sound like. Also his portrayal of a feminine voice (Roscoe), well quite frankly, I found it insulting. Like a comedy example of a typical woman's voice.
Sorry. I'll stick to the books in future.

Sorry, don't like narrator

All other activities stopped until the book was finished. I initially thought I would just use it to entertain myself while travelling, but found I had to continue listening as I was spellbound. I had read the book previously and had missed some of the nuances.

Enthralling

Powerful style but the intonation is repetitive. Always going down at the end of the sentence.

Fabulous story marred by repetitive delivery

The treatment of women and minority groups is very 90s (read typecast and sidelined), but overall very engaging.

A very 90s novel.

The storyline was enjoyable although it rambled on a bit in some areas a bit too much for my personal liking.

The performer was good although not the right one for the character I thought. The voice sounded too old for the presumed age of the character. The performance was also a bit monotone and had I not enjoyed the story I would’ve given up at an early chapter.

Overall it was lovely despite my comments.

Quite enjoyable

I love lee child and the Reacher series. This is again a great story, it is a tense thrilling adventure. Unfortunately the narrator sounds as though he is reading the dictionary. Im going back to hard copy books due to this experience
