About this listen

In a seedy bar in Hollywood, a whiskey-loving barman is drawn into the nocturnal world of his sociopathic clientele, with their squabbles, delusions, and bizarre acts of violence. In this brilliantly funny portrait of addiction and its consequences, escape offers the only chance of survival. Utterly absorbing and surprisingly tender, Ablutions is a startlingly bold and original debut.

Enjoyed it but felt no real connection with the main character. Perhaps I missed something dealing with traffic.

De Witt is a very good writer. If u like this, read ‘sister brothers’. Always a fan of the outsider, de Witt, knows first hand the coal face of suffering and emotional unravelling. Great narrator too, with all his book.

A good book

I struggled a little with the concept of this book - re-listened several times - overall was a pretty good but hopeless story of the struggle with the demon drink - I heard it is also a play - would like to see that.

Not what I expected
