Publisher's Summary

Savannah Dupree is a freshman studying at Boston University on a full scholarship. But Savannah possesses something even more remarkable than a quick mind and an insatiable curiosity for learning. With a simple touch, she can see an object's past - a skill that puts her life in danger when her studies bring her into contact with a centuries-old English sword and the terrible secret hidden within the blade's history. In all his 300 years of living as one of the Breed, vampire warrior Gideon never dreamed he'd ever again see the blade that ended his young brothers' lives ages ago in London. There's one certain way to prove Gideon's suspicion, but it will mean using Savannah to help uncover the truth. With danger closing in from all sides, the passion that ignites between Gideon and Savannah will tempt them to risk their hearts and lives for a love that might just last an eternity.

Narrator killed this for me

Just a personal preference but the voice of the female in this annoyed me so much. I love easy southern accents. This was just painful.

A Touch of Midnight

This book does a really great job at bringing us into this world and building it and the characters it has me excited to continue the series.

I enjoyed the 2 main characters their struggle of understanding who the other is really was interesting and intriguing and another reason I can’t wait to start book 1.

Also, the narration was fantastic I really enjoyed it.

Really awful narration

The narrator did a horrible job narrating the male lead character Gideon. He was supposed to be British but having lived in Boston for many many decades. You'd expect a toned down English accent, right? Nope. She was all over the place, sometimes sounding Scottish, sometimes Australian, some Irish, and maybe even a little Canadian. There was some English accent in there, but it wasn't consistently from one area in England either. It was distracting enough to pull me right out of the story, which was really good on its own.

The start of a new beginning.

This is my first foray into Lara Adrian and I am pleasantly surprised. A lot of people have told me that this book is almost like BDB (Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward. I can see why some people could see that. There are a lot of silimiatries when it comes to these series. I cannot say if this series is on the same level of BDB but I am up to the task.

I enjoyed Savannah and Gideon. Savannah was not the typical heroine. She did not go half cocked and think what she knew was best. There are so many times where a heroine thinks that she knows what she is doing but actually puts not only herself but the hero in danger. Savannah knew what she could do and what she couldn't and accepted that.

Gideon was you typical alpha male but in a good way. He knew he cared for her from the beginning and wanted to protect her. Unfortunately for him and most alpha males then tend to go overboard or tend to hind things from the heroine and shit starts to hit the fan. In this case that is what happens.

Even with the couple of hiccups I enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to learning more about this world and I am excited to read more about the different characters. I heard a lot of good things about Lucan's book, Kiss of Midnight.

The narrator is very annoying

The voice used for Savannah is way over done for a southern, young girl making her sound old and over the top, ridiculous

Not enough character development. Terrible narration.

I was really excited about a book featuring Savanna and Gideon because they are two of my favorite characters. But I knew when I saw the length of the book it wasn’t going to be good. We really didn’t get the chance to get to know the characters, so it made their love affair seem unrealistic. We’re supposed to believe that a man who has abstained from sex for nearly twenty years to fall in love with a woman in less than a week?!? The only positive thing about the book being so short is that we were spared a lot of the typical “ I love her, but I have to let her go” nonsense. Book one nearly drove me crazy with that. Also, I don’t know where they’re getting the people to narrate the romance novels, but they are terrible! Gideon’s character sounded like he was from Australia, and Savanna’s like she was high. If I he narration doesn’t improve I’m canceling my subscription .

love it

Gideon is part of the Order, one of eight warriors of the breed. They are basically vampires who protect humans from rogue vampires who have given in to blood lust and have no control over their baser instincts. Savannah is a freshman art history student who has an ability. When she touches objects she can see events that happened in the past.

She touches an antique sword while doing a special project for one of her professors and sees a murder that happened hundreds of years ago by Vampires. Then the sword is stolen and another vampire is to blame. Savannah and Gideon meet and things take off from there. The romance is steamy and the intrigue is good. I will continue to read more of this series.

Simply okay

The story never drew me in. The performance was okay but not compelling. The story never developed the characters enough.

Fantastic Series

I loved this book. It was exciting from start to finish. I liked Savannah and the gift she has. It was like having the Midas touch with a twist. The narrators Voice was just the right pitch and aided me in engaging with the characters and not the narrators Voice. The Breed Series is awesome!

Good Story

Great novella. Dialog a little cliche for me but overall a very good story. Great addition to the series.

Vampires are real, and seriously hot!

This is the first of Lara Adrians Midnight Breed books that I have added audio narration to but it definitely won't be the last.

The story is not a typical Vampire romance and though it can be read standalone. I think to really enjoy this series that I would recommend reading all the following books in order as there is a continuing arc that does not completely conclude until the very last book in the series.

Gideon is part of a secretive order of gorgeous Vampire Warriors trying to protect humanity. Along the way he finds the only woman he can love whilst battling evil. There are some seriously hot sex scenes but this is secondary to the main story revolving around an ancient evil from his past.

If I had one complaint it would be that I would have liked dual narrators, one of which should have been a man with a British accent. I feel that would have made the story even better but only having a female narrator did not detract from the excellent story.

Will certainly be purchasing more narration for Lara Adrians books.
