Publisher's Summary

What if falling in love meant almost losing everything?

Where does a moderately popular internet star who never leaves her house look for potential suitors? Online. Tinder, Bumble, Match.com, OkCupid - I tried them all. My 31-year-old self clicked and swiped her little heart out, leading to more dates than I could count, and more disappointment than I was prepared for.

Maybe you can relate. Maybe you know all too well the perils of modern dating. But let’s say, eventually, you meet someone. You think to yourself, “Wow, they’re perfect! Take me off the market, put a ring on it, knock me up, the whole enchilada, because they are ‘the one.’” Let’s also say that they “feel the same way” about you. Your life starts to make sense! All the pain, heartbreak, and frustration from past failed relationships was worth it. Slow clap.

That’s how I felt about Milos. He was from Europe, a doctor, wealthy, athletic. He had an accent and a dog. Milos was textbook marriage material. For him it was “love at first sight”, but for me, it was “anxiety on every date”. Something was telling me to run - but for two years, the only running I did was straight into his arms.

If only I would have listened. This isn’t a love story. It’s my story of survival.

Absolutely terrible , monotonous tone and just who cares! Worst audio book I’ve listened to , why is this even published?

Don’t bother

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this wasn’t it. I disliked the voices she put on, the words did not paint pictures in my mind. Yes it’s not a good thing to happen to someone but her monotone voice was just not working for me. It could have been so much better.

a true survival story

An amazing tale of betrayl and a peek inside the true horrors and workings in the world. Narration by the author is easy to listen to and brings a claming sensation to the story which makes it very easy to listen to..even during the parts that make you want to hide away from the world.

an important message!

what a story! I've been following Brittani on youtube for a while, so needles to say I was curious about the whole situation. Beautifully written and wonderfully spoken, Brittani tells a heartbreaking yet important story. Even if you were not previously a fan or watcher of hers, this book is definitely worth a listen!

What a moving story

I cannot fathom what it would be like to have had so much taken away from me. I’m thankful Brittani opened up about her story on Shane’s channel which has lead me to listen to this book.

It’s a great reminder that meeting strangers online (or now through an app) has always and WILL always be dangerous and it’s important to take CALCULATED risks before meeting these people. It provides insight into the types of people who can rope you into their reality as they pin you down by the things they know weaken you the most.

We should be careful who we trust and let into our lives always and I’m so proud of Brittany for being brave and telling the world her story. I only pray she that grace heals her and her heart. Stay strong Brittani!

beautiful work

I've watched Brittani on YouTube for a long time and seeing her grow as a person and then take this journey as a mother. you'd never know all of this was happening to her. she has such incredible grace and poise in every thing she's done and this book is no exception. it makes the reality of domestic violence a lot more relatable and it shows that it doesn't have a template or a set of rules. It's awful but it's in how you handle it. she's a gem and this book is beautiful. It's honest and a reflection of her as a person. overall beautiful work.

Entertaining and insightful!

I loved that this story was told as if we were living it with Brittani. Telling it in this way makes it easy for people who haven’t been in abusive relationships to understand how so many women find themselves falling for these people and stuck in the abusive cycle. I was also conned by my first love, not to the this extreme but women need to be more aware to protect themselves! This is an entertaining story and good audiobook!

Heart break. Raw. Real. A love story to her son!

I’ve been watching Brittani since I was 13 and remember when this was happening to her real time. I knew something was up and knew she would tell it when the time was right. Everyone must read this! It’s raw and from the heart. She is so real and was able to over come such a heart ache. You see her love she has for her son and what she had to do to protect him at all cost! Just simply amazing!

Listened to the entire book in 9 hours. Amazing. Such a strong woman to have gone through all this and come out on the other side! I wish Brittani and her family nothing but the best, she deserves it!

Moving and compelling cautionary tale

I listened to this every spare second I could find. I remember watching Brittany’s vlogs during the time after she announced her pregnancy and engagement. I really cannot believe she was going through such hell, and how strong of a woman she is. I hope this story reaches everyone who needs to hear it and I hope also, that Brittany is living her “happily ever after” because she deserves it!

I feel for her, but the narration was awful.

I have utmost respect for a survivor coming forward with their story. Blessings to her and to her son for the calm they now have after such insanity and calamity.

That being said the valley-girl like inflections were taxing, the timeworn cliches exhausting and the syntax lackluster. I get it, a youtuber, not a writer. However, one would expect words conveyed through a camera to be delivered similarly to that through a recording microphone. Comparable to other reviews I've read, the naivete was unbearable. Not lacking empathy for her situation, but astonished by how devoid she was of common sense.

I'm flattered for her to see all the positive reviews, though I'm left aghast to know that very few who have read this know what decent reading is.

an intriguing story with some narration problems

The constant upticks in the narrator's voice were irritating at times and distracted from the story. It is her story and she should be the one to tell it I just wish she received some coaching first.

Not my usual read but enjoyed it.

Very engaging lady. A modern love story with a bitter twist. Really felt like she was telling me her story over coffee.

True story of bravery

I gave this a 4 out of 5 because the narration left a lot to be desired. She is very monotone which at first made this hard to listen to but the true story itself is very interesting and maybe I would have enjoyed it more actually reading it.

It is a shocking and brave story to tell and I applaud her for being so strong and sharing her experience so hopefully others can glean from it (and gain strength to change their situation of needed).

Interesting story, not the best performance.

Interesting, terrifying, incredible story. Performance left alot to be desired, but once you get into the realness of the story, you can forgive a bad accent or monotone voice.
Binged within a day as I was desperate to hear where this horror story was going to next. You really do feel for Brittany by the end.
I got this book after watching her recent appearance on Shane Dawson's latest Docuseries. There was so much more to the story than given away in the video, which meant the series wasn't as much of a spoiler as I first thought it was.

An insightful, cautionary tale.

Couldn't stop listening although sometimes the performance/writing took me out of it. I wasn't expecting accents and occassipanlty there were cliche lines and phrases that made the story sound more like a YA novel than a true story. Kudos to Brittani for being brace enough to share her story and for getting out of her "Sucky Love Story".

Interesting story, odd writing

As somehow who listens to books quite frequently, the difference in writing here (Very personal, she has her own asides rather than keeping to the story) was kind of jarring. However, it kept me hooked and helped me sympathise with Britanni, without knowing who she was (Never seen her YouTube channel before). Would recommend but be cautious of the personal writing
