That’s how I felt about Milos. He was from Europe, a doctor, wealthy, athletic. He had an accent and a dog. Milos was textbook marriage material. For him it was “love at first sight”, but for me, it was “anxiety on every date”. Something was telling me to run - but for two years, the only running I did was straight into his arms.

If only I would have listened. This isn’t a love story. It’s my story of survival.

An amazing tale of betrayl and a peek inside the true horrors and workings in the world. Narration by the author is easy to listen to and brings a claming sensation to the story which makes it very easy to listen to..even during the parts that make you want to hide away from the world.

a true survival story

The courage it took to write this story is astounding. Brittani's experience, a nightmare on so many levels, is compounded by the difficulty in explaining it to those who have not been in a manipulative relationship. It is very easy to judge and say 'that would never happen to me, she should have seen it coming', but having had a similar experience I can tell you that is far from true. But the far greatest tragedy in this story, and many like it, is the emotional trauma of not only losing the person you love, but finding out they were an illusion. It's heartbreaking, and it takes balls to face up to it on such a public level.

I do agree, Brittani isn’t the person you want to change your Navman voice to, or have as a voice alarm in the morning.
Would I have wanted this story spoken by anyone else? NO, this story is hard to hear and inspires courageousness & to embrace the hardships of life and also has found a way to add a few laughs in.
This is Brittani’s personal story and would NOT have tugged on my heart strings as strongly as it did, had Brittani not been the one to tell it.
I love this book, I love the message it sends, I love that Brittani is normal and relatable.

what a story! I've been following Brittani on youtube for a while, so needles to say I was curious about the whole situation. Beautifully written and wonderfully spoken, Brittani tells a heartbreaking yet important story. Even if you were not previously a fan or watcher of hers, this book is definitely worth a listen!
