Publisher's Summary
The phenomenal number one best seller about best friends James and Bob. Now a major motion picture starring Luke Treadaway.
Shortlisted for: Popular Non-Fiction Book of the Year - Specsavers National Book Awards 2012
When James Bowen found an injured, ginger street cat curled up in the hallway of his sheltered accommodation, he had no idea just how much his life was about to change. James was living hand to mouth on the streets of London and the last thing he needed was a pet. Yet James couldn't resist helping the strikingly intelligent tom cat, whom he quickly christened Bob. He slowly nursed Bob back to health and then sent the cat on his way, imagining he would never see him again. But Bob had other ideas. Soon the two were inseparable and their diverse, comic and occasionally dangerous adventures would transform both their lives, slowly healing the scars of each other's troubled pasts. A Street Cat Named Bob is a moving and uplifting story that will touch the heart of anyone who hears it.

Delightful
This was a delightful, charming yet thought provoking book. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the bond that developed between James and Bob. It also gave me some insight into the harsh realities of what life on the streets must be like for those more unfortunate than ourselves. An enjoyable book, not just for cat lovers.

A simple tale but full of hope
what a lovely outcome for two characters stranded, each in their own little puddle of dejection... until they meet up.

Very inspiring!
As the owner of a stray ginger cat myself (our boy Ginger could easily be Bob's younger brother :) ), the story of James and Bob resonated with me on so many levels. To me this story shows how animals can bring out the very best in us and help us to overcome the toughest of obstacles. Seeing James overcome addiction while making a living busking and selling the Big Issue was truly inspiring.
It also opened my eyes to what homeless and people down on their luck have to go through. Some of the violence and harsh comments by various people was tough to take in but it showed what James and Bob were able to overcome.
The narration was very good and the accent was spot on. It felt like James really was telling me his story. The books well written and well paced.
