The novel is brought satisfyingly to life by the Narrator's performance.
There are some discordant pronunciations to this reader's ear, but they are comfortably surpassed by the overall performance which evokes time, place and characters beautifully.

Evocative Read.

The fact that it came to an end. I would love to stay in that world and hear Liselle's songs.

Not as perfect as The Lions of Al Rasan but still a wonderful book, and a very different take on the medieval world. Art and song mingle with rivalry and the horror of war. Women versus men. Art versus war. Love versus hatred. There are troubadours and priestesses and assassins aplenty. As usual Kay weaves a tapestry rich in beauty and heartbreak but also one where hope is the most prevalent and persistent thread. I thought the audible version was brilliant with Euan Morton not only narrating the story with perfection but also singing the songs beautifully!

A rich tapestry expertly woven

I doubt very much you will regret listening to this masterpiece, the writing and performance are wonderful.

A story to remember, a story to love
