About this listen

A lonely young heiress becomes the poorest wealthy woman in Victorian England when her father dies without telling anyone where he hid his fortune. Can Tressa and the no-nonsense estate manager find the fortune before the greedy relatives get to it first?

Tressa Harlowe's father did not trust banks, but neither did he trust his greedy extended family. He kept his vast fortune hidden somewhere on his estate in the south of England and died suddenly, without telling anyone where he had concealed it. Tressa and her ailing mother are left with a mansion and an immense vineyard and no money to run it. It doesn't take long for a bevy of opportunists to flock to the estate under the guise of offering condolences. Tressa knows what they're really up to. She'll have to work with the rough and rusticated vineyard manager to keep the laborers content without pay and discover the key to finding her father's fortune before someone else finds it first. Award-winning author Joanna Davidson Politano welcomes readers to Trevelyan Castle, home of the poorest heiress in Victorian England, for a treasure hunt they'll not soon forget.

I absolutely adored this book. The main character Miss Harlow was a truely fascinating woman.

I enjoyed the references to God and his inclusion in the story.
good plot as well.

spiritual

It has a good plot with interesting characters. It might be wise when advertising this book that it has a distinct religious content. Didn't worry me but might annoy others.

An interesting easy read

Old fashioned lovely clean story. Engaging characters and themes. Narrative a little grinding especially with males at times but easily overlooked.

Enjoyable

Do yourself a favour and listen to this wonderful book. The word of God is woven all through it.

Absolutely brilliant!

over-good hansome hero on black stallion (named Gypsy) saves misunderstood artistic rich girl (who prays a lot) and her misunderstood father...on vineyard estate (complete with castle) in England (too cold for successful viticulture). Lost treasure found at the end.
Having been a vintner, I found the tidbits of supposed vintner's wisdom that began each chapter laughable, but tedious. The pretence of loving the beauty of nature and vines is rendered shallow by failure to name any variety of grape or rootstock, and only occasional reference to natural or ornamental species (just bushes, trees, flowers).

saccharine and stupid romanticism

The story was engaging enuf mainly bc of the plot, rather than the dets. The heavy religious turn half way thru was not my thing so made it even harder to finish. The narrator accent & voice of male characters in particular was extremely poor. Pronouncing the 'o' in 'among' was v annoying & in the end, it was the narration that bought this book down.
