A Proper Education comprises five college student / professor pairings: a professor falls for his daughter’s manny (Beau Pair); a non-binary student captivates two professorial friends (Me Three); a literature professor and student bond at a Halloween party (Teach for Treat); an obsessed professor propositions his cam boy student (Your Only Fan); and a mostly-straight theatre professor is enamoured with his leading trans man (Missing Linc).

The taboo-ish romances are mostly heavy on the sex scenes and light on character development and plot with the merest of nods to conflicts of interest when the students happen to be in the same class as their professorial love-interest(s). They’re mostly low-angst insta-love / lust connections which I usually find too unrealistic to enjoy. My picks are Your Only Fan (where the obsession with the student predates being in the classroom by a few years) and Missing Linc (which redeems a previously unlikeable professor). 🎧 Narrating audio fiction is a tightrope act: Too little emotion feels flat, but too much emotion feels overacted. I wasn’t a fan of John York’s overacted narrations at first but they have grown on me over time. He’s certainly enthusiastic!
