Poetry brought to life – an exceptional audiobook
I already had the book in print, but when I saw that there was an audiobook available, I immediately bought that too, and now I listen to poems in the morning as I get dressed... The best way I've found to start the day. Helena Bonham Carter and Simon Russell Beale do a fabulous job of performing the brilliant poems, together, they breathe life into the poetry. Best audio book I've bought. I highly, highly recommend it.

Not what I expected
There were some amazing poems but therr were others I did not enjoy. Often they were chosen to fit in with an historical event on the day rather than the beauty of the poetry (although beauty is subjective). The same poets kept cropping up -I had hoped for 365 different poets. Some of the poems were doggerel or from popular songs. As often is the case I could not see from the description which poems were being offered. The narration of both the poems and the description was good. If I had known the full content I would not have bought it

Some awful readings are spoling this book for me
After a bright start, now that it's the end of May I am thoroughly fed up with the wayward readings by Helena Bonham-Carter. She has a pleasant enough voice normally but here, much of the time, she sounds like a precocious child putting on a show for an adoring and uncritical group of family and friends. Ludicrous over-acting that would shame an early-years drama student. I know that reading of poetry is partly a matter of personal taste but I think the producer should have reined in Ms B-C's excesses.
That major point aside, the choice of poems is nicely eclectic. Again, not all to my personal choice (reading lyrics of songs seems aberrant for example), but that makes for variety, surprise and opportunity to discuss with others - I listen with my partner. We find it best to have the physical book handy to get the best from the poems.

Disappointment
After enjoying Shakespeare for every day in the year, I found this item disappointing. Some of the "poems" would only work if sung, and it was embarrassing to hear the excellent Simon Russell Beale having to emulate non-musical Beatles. Also I found Allie Esiri's commentary somewhat patronising.

Good selection well organised
More than the usual amount of work went into to producing this audio book. Each chapter is a different poem and the PDF which comes with it allows you to easily choose which ones to listen to or locate those you particularly enjoyed. The selection appears to cover the most well known British poets, so there should be at least a few that you like - assuming you like some poetry!
