About this listen

Retired schoolteachers and amateur sleuths Liz, Pat and Thelma have a brand-new mystery to solve in this witty tale – perfect for fans of The Thursday Murder Club and Robert Thorogood

Curious white envelopes have been delivered to friends and neighbours. Inside are letters revealing the deepest secrets they have tried to hide.

As one by one, careers are ended, marriages destroyed and no one is beyond suspicion, the three friends decide enough is enough. They must take matters into their own hands before more damage is done.

But as they work to uncover the truth, they begin to wonder just how far someone will go to silence this poison pen…

Could a murderer be in their midst once again?

The second totally addictive cosy mystery featuring these very unlikely sleuths. Fans of Agatha Christie and Midsomer Murders will be hooked from the very first page.

I enjoyed the first book and have now enjoyed this one - as others have said some may find it slow but I listen to relax and quite enjoy the slowness. The three main characters are none of them quick on their feet, but I enjoy their self-reflection and the little mistakes they make. And that they loose their tempers and have messy relationships but are loyal and ordinary. And a nice long listen ... some of the cosy mysteries are so short and I've stopped buying them. They're not procedural crime dramas, so the details don't worry me at all. I can just imagine the north of England and the weather and the villages and it's all very homy and easy.

Enjoyable enough

I must have missed something because was there supposed to be a death. It was an ok story. Did grab as much the last J M Hall book I read.

It was an ok book.

I cone from this area so thought id like the book as I have similar ones but I found it hard to get in to, once I warmed to the characters I enjoyed it

Fast passed book

I loved the characters (again), loved the story, I was gripped all the way through!

Great second adventure!

I enjoyed the first book in the series and this didn’t disappoint. I felt I got to know the Characters a little more and as a teacher I could make strong connections to the story. Some may find it a little slow and repetitive at times but the narration was so good it didn’t matter too much. I picked the writer of the letters very early on so maybe a little predictable but again it didn’t matter. A comfortable listen too! I shall look forward to the next one

Humorous and relatable - just don’t take it too seriously!

I completed the book because I like to finish what I start but I found it a bit boring. I found the narrator at times was difficult to understand. I’m sure the process of writing a book is challenging but I will not be reading/listening to any more by this author or narrator.

Disappointing

Loved the narration, a light tale. A bit of a slow story that dragged, with too many side characters and sub plots. While the mystery was solved (and obvious even though it all felt a bit too rushed at the end) its ending felt flat and like not much happened.

Long winded
