Liverpool, 1961. A group of young men come together seeking fame and fortune as the fledgling sounds of the Swinging '60s take root in the city. Soon, Liverpool becomes synonymous with the groups and music that shape a generation.

Liverpool, 1999. Skeletal remains found in the docklands lead Detective Inspector Andy Ross and Sergeant Izzie Drake into a journey through time as the investigation takes them back to early days of the Mersey Beat.

This was an ok story. Quite enjoyable, found some of the narration was a bit of gabble apart from that good.

Ok story

ok story line, pretty predictable and nothing new. The narrator was terrible, no glow at all and her male voices were so cringy. Only just enough intrigue to get me to the end to see if had guessed correctly . I had.

TERRIBLE narration…

Firstly I must comment on the narration. Many of the reviews I have read comment that the narration is terrible. As I found the story synopsis interesting I decided to listen and develop my own thoughts. I’m so pleased I did, the narration is excellent, perhaps not full of dramatic pauses and over enthusiastic voices as some books are, however definitely a pleasant listen.
The story is interesting and develops the characters well. It can be listened to as a standalone novel without feeling you have to go on to the next book to hear the full story.
I recommend you ignore the negative reviews and make your own mind up.

Story was fine, if a bit predictable. I liked the characters but the narration almost spoilt it for me - same tone of voice throughout with very little intonation.

Loved hearing the Liverpool accent and the narrator didn’t do a bad job. Story line was good and the flow kept me interested. All in all a good listen, thank you.

I liked the building of each character in this fine story. I smiled often of the music, taking me down memory lane. I sad but very believable tale. I enjoyed this book ever so much.

A truly engaging story!
