Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Nalini Singh welcomes you to a remote town on the edge of the world where even the blinding brightness of the sun can't mask the darkness that lies deep within a killer....

On the rugged West Coast of New Zealand, Golden Cove is more than just a town where people live. The adults are more than neighbours; the children, more than schoolmates.

That is until one fateful summer - and several vanished bodies - shatters the trust holding Golden Cove together. All that's left are whispers behind closed doors, broken friendships, and a silent agreement not to look back. But they can't run from the past forever.

Eight years later, a beautiful young woman disappears without a trace, and the residents of Golden Cove wonder if their home shelters something far more dangerous than an unforgiving landscape.

It's not long before the dark past collides with the haunting present and deadly secrets come to light.

great listen

It was my first read/listen of Nalini Singh and I’ll be looking for more - well written mystery/crime with a light touch of Māori culture and language. Very enjoyable and interesting.

Beautifully Written

What a refreshing storyline. Preformed well and so nice to hear a story written and based in New Zealand.

Good, not Great....But well worth a listen.

I enjoyed this story, really well narrated with the correct pronounciations. I found I that had guessed the perpetrator long before the end but still enjoyed the journey that was this story. Will follow this author.

A slow burn

A good read, not suspenseful but quietly interesting. The back stories added another depth to the characters and although there were no great shocks or surprises it kept me turning the pages - figuratively, I listened to the audiobook.

Loved it great narration

Loved it and most of all Saskia's pronunciation of Maori words that born NZers can't even pronounce properly...well done Saskia ...

Mysterious West coast

I enjoyed this book. It has captured New Zealand’s West Coast of the South Island beautifully. The bush, sea and wildness of the area. The people who live there for various reasons dropping out of society or just preferring a slower way of living.

Beautifully written

I freely admit I went into this audiobook with a degree of trepidation- Nalini Singh is unquestionably one of my all time favourite authors & this was something of a departure from her ‘usual’ works.

Yea of little faith! I should have known better.

This is an intimate, evocative story of the darkness that runs deep under the ripple-free water that is the outwardly simple existence of an isolated small town. At once unflinchingly honest, yet deeply compassionate, this is an exploration of what truly brings out the best and worst in human nature.

If I say too much more I’ll be giving out spoilers so I’ll end with this. A Madness if Sunshine is an excellent whodunnit; the setting against the breathtaking backdrop of NZ’s rugged and treacherous beauty heightens the tension and emotion that Singh deftly weaves through a tale that will leave you as breathless as the chill wind that blows off a wild West Coast ocean...
