About this listen
The amazing life story of Britain's world conquering triathlete, Chrissie Wellington. Chrissie Wellington is the world's No 1 female Ironman triathlete, the current quadruple World Champion and World Record holder. In 2009 she was voted 'Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year' and in 2010 was awarded the MBE. She is the undefeated champion of Triathlon, having won nine Ironman titles from nine races. Her World Record setting race time of 8:19:13 at Quelle Roth Germany in 2010 slashed over 14 minutes from the previous record and where she was only beaten by six men. Chrissie has displayed unprecedented levels of stamina, strength and competitiveness in becoming Ironman World Champion in only her second event at Ironman level. Her victory in Kona, Hawaii in 2007 finishing in 9:08:45 - five minutes ahead of her nearest rival - was described as the 'biggest upset in Ironman history' and 'a remarkable feat, deemed to be near impossible task for any athlete racing as a rookie at their first Ironman World Championships'. She defended her World title in Hawaii in 2008 and again in 2009 and won back her title in 2011 after having to withdraw from the 2010 race due to illness.
This is the remarkable story of how a Norfolk girl - a 'sporty kid, swimming, playing hockey, running, but never excelling and always more interested in the social side of the sports scene' - became a world champion. Chrissie Wellington is the world-record holder for ironman-distance triathlon, and she remains undefeated over the Ironman distance.

An excellent insight to triathlon and Chrissy Wellington.
Was a great book to listen to. Very easy to listen to and very inspiring. Great insight to the ultimate professional and how tough not only physical but how mentally strong Chrissy.
Great role model for females. Shows them that they can travel, have a good education beat the boys in their chosen sport and do whatever they put their mind to.
Great role model for females in all aspects of life.

Loved this book! Great story, great narration.
This book was gifted to me. I have almost zero interest in sporting achievements let alone iron man and triathlon BUT I was captivated by Chrissie’s story. Give it a go. You won’t be disappointed.

What an amazing person
People like this don't come along every day! They are given to us as special gifts, to help us realise just how much we could possibly achieve in a lifetime. Thank you Chrissy Wellington for sharing your beautiful story.
I am a mum of two and soon to be three, and just before I found out I was pregnant with my third I had started running for the first time ever. I realise now I have to slow down a bit for a while and ride out another season of my life. But your story has inspired me to seek a more enriching life, where I throw away the thoughts of my limiting mind. So thank you, for putting your story into this book, and inspiring people like me.

Enjoyed it
Very honest and vulnerable writing. Being from New Zealand it was pretty humourous the way the narrator pronounced the NZ place names!! LOL maybe some pre research from her would have been a good idea!!

A story of grit, perseverance, and a crazy chick who doesn't know how to chill.

Inspirational, especially for aspiring triathletes.
I didn't have very high expectations for this book. But it's once of the more inspirational I've ever come across.
Chrissie wasn't a professional nor serious athlete for most of her life and much of the book is about more than her career as an triathlete. Although, her World Championship wins provide the climax. She spent a lot of time helping others and a lot time travelling and working abroad in community development type roles.
She just enjoyed swimming in her teens and then running in her early 20's and finally cycling. Every victory she had seemed to come as a big shock to her.
Chrissie set out to primarily just make the most of each situation. But one thing would often lead to another and her hard work often paid off. She won 4 Ironman World Championships in 5 years and will go down as one of the greatest athletes to ever live.
I really enjoyed the story.

Persistence = Success
As a specialist in peak performance mindset, I applaud Chrissie Wellington for outlining what it takes to be successful and the massive dedication to push the limit of mind and body. The last 10 mins is something every athlete needs to hear.

Thoroughly enjoyable autobiography
As a beginner triathlon enthusiast who had never heard of Chrissie before, I really enjoyed this book. Hearing the journey she took to not only become a professional triathlete but also win the four World Championships was thrilling and inspiring.
