Story
This is the story of the real Crocodile Dundee, a gripping biography jam-packed with adventure, romance, and misery. Outback Heart captures the Territory life vividly: the dust, the heat, the struggle, and the larger-than-life characters. But it's also a deeply moving and powerful story of a love affair and a marriage, and the pain of it falling apart.

Story
'We can give you a start. You will need a six foot by four foot piece of canvas and blanket. If you stay for three months we will refund your fare. You will need to fly TAA out of Cloncurry and advise me your date of arrival.' And so began the adventures and misadventures of young Roland Breckwoldt. It was 1960. He was not yet sixteen, and the unworldly Roland was leaving his home on the semi-agricultural fringes of Sydney to work as a stockman on the vast cattle stations of the Gulf Country of North Queensland.
Publisher's Summary
The powerful true story of how one woman turned outback dust into a diamond empire.
Within minutes of landing in Kununurra, Frauke Bolten had made up her mind to get on a plane back home to Germany. It was 1981, and the dusty frontier town was no place for a woman. However, Frauke stayed, determined to help her husband carve out a new life farming. Tragedy struck just three years later when Friedrich took his own life and she was left to raise their family alone.
Twenty-six years after she sold her first necklace off the back porch, Kimberley Fine Diamonds in Kununurra is now home to one of the world’s largest collections of Argyle pink diamonds, with a client list that includes Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. Frauke is credited for not only pioneering an industry but for putting the tiny outback town and its precious diamonds on the map.
A Diamond in the Dust is a tale of love and loss, hardship and heartache, but ultimately the inspiring story of how a naïve young girl from Germany overcame tragedy to pioneer a diamond empire in one of the most unforgiving terrains on earth.

Inspiring
Thank you Frauke for sharing your story, your amazing journey in life so far. I purchased your book while visiting Kununurra a month ago, you were in the store that day and signed my book which was a present for my partner. Being a mum of four myself, I cried many times throughout this reading, laughed a lot too….relating to many parts myself. Thank you so very much, your honesty was pure and you are such an inspiration for many.

Thank you Frauke
Thank you Frauke for sharing your incredibly Inspiring story with us.
It’s honestly one of my very favourite books.
I laughed and cried like I rarely do with books.
It’s left me with a ‘can do’ attitude, that nothing is too big to overcome with God.

Admiration for an Amazing Author
The book, recommended to me by a resident of Kununurra, was not a book I would have chosen from the bookstore But heartfelt and grateful thanks go to June who knows me better than I know myself when it comes to books.
I have enjoyed every word I wept with saddens and with happiness as Frauke interwove the threads of her life.
It is a story that evokes great emotion, to the point of feeling the heat, being able to see the red dust and to feel the fear of the wildlife; (that brown snake coiled around the cars bowl-ugh!- ).
A truly amazing woman, who has a way with words which makes this book a MUST read.
Thank you for sharing Frauke, and thank you for not giving up on WA
May God continue to bless you and your family.
