Story
Ryker only had one goal in his life right now: turn a certain adventuring guild into a flaming wreck while dancing merrily through the smoldering ruins. All for the chance to get back at a handful of people. It didn’t work out that way though. At all. He’d died, been forced into the body of an avatar, absconded with the queen as her castle fell to betrayal, kidnapped a little kid who is obviously more than he seems, and to top all that off, he killed his undead father. The smoldering ruins of the queendom have cooled, and Ryker has a task that is more than likely too much for him.

Drew has finally got it all together. First, there is his pocket dimension, a quickly growing area based around his good buddy, Tree. Then there are his students, six random kids he...liberated. Finally, there is the dragon stalking him. Cultivating, sailing, staying ahead of trouble. That’s his plan as he moves into the creation of his solid Core. Seducing a dragon was a total accident. Nuking an Island? Let’s not focus on the details. They started it. What’s the best thing to do while getting his magical career and development back on track? Play pirate, of course!

Story
Warner spent his days like almost anyone else. He got up, went to work, answered phone calls in a call center, went home, spent time with his daughter, and went to sleep. Only to repeat the pattern over and over and over. Life was as mundane as anyone could ever fear it to be. Today was the day that all that would change. On this day, his daughter Maya would be nearly fatally injured, plunging Warner into a world of paranormal creatures, monsters, and magic he’d never known existed. The only consolation is that he discovers he’s not quite human, either.

I listen to this when it's bedtime. Bad decision
The moon is made of cheese and a Phoenix lives there. While keeping continuity throughout the previous books. I believe 'A Demon and a Dragon' is a weird title to add to the series but expands on all the curiosities foreshadowed by the previous books. Virlyce explore some weird concepts like the soul being a dungeon raid or a empress being a dumb, gullible warrior who is an abusive mother to a turtle with the tail of a snake.
I read/listen to Virlyce's books because they're creative in execution and personality. I hope she continues to create weird and exciting stories that keeps me up at night, knowing that the story has not ended.
We've almost explored all the nautical continents. What's next? The moon, the world underground? The Ocean? Grimy's dimension of darkness? The so much land you can cover, so why not make a splash

Tiresome
Mare did a great job with narration, but the book falls way short with Vir. Vir boils down to a child with not a care in the world, to much power, spoiled rotten, ZERO empathy and being this is the 3rd book he has not learned anything to make him grow and mature.

Feels like a Fanfic
Main character is grossly overpowered and never really seems to face any challenges. It was this way in the first two books it felt worse in this one. I honestly got taken out of the experience by how often Vir would do something and nobody could do anything to him because he was too powerful. I loved the comedy in this but Vir is just too mary sue for his own world.

I bit my lower lip...
eh... i dunno what it is about lower lips in this book's universe but they must be delicious.
The book is decent listening if youre zoned out driving or whatever, seeing how you can tune out and come back in and at worst you'd miss a punchline. The plot isnt much of a nail biter either.
if you liked the other two installments of this series i dunno why you wouldnt like this one though.

not even half as good as it's predecessors
I struggled to finish this one due to how badly written the characters are now. Ver is snobby and egotistical this time around that it becomes annoying to the point that you want to skip every conversation with him. Toffle, once an awesome character, is now defined by her inferiority complex, where you start to think that she is pathetic. I swear the narrator makes every conversation between the characters sound like 5 year olds arguing, with reason. The parts that are supposed to be funny are so far from it. How ver wins bets is particularly upsetting.
I fail to understand how quality can fall so hard.
