Publisher's Summary

The hilarious and heartfelt new autobiography from the national treasure Sir David Jason.

In celebration of Sir David Jason’s 80th year, A Del of a Life: Lessons I've Learned relives Jason’s extraordinary life and career from more than 50 years in entertainment. From a trainee electrician to one of Britain’s most revered and loved actors, Jason shares heartfelt and hilarious wisdom with listeners on subjects ranging from family to work, resilience to ebullience. Told with his characteristic warmth and wit, Jason shines a wonderful new light on the characters and shows that fans have come to love him for, from Del Boy to Granville, Larkin to Frost.

In my first two books, I enjoyed sharing my life with the great British public, and I was overwhelmed by their support and kindness. In my new book, A Del of a Life, I am delighted to share with readers some of the hard-won lessons I’ve learned along the way - how to dream big, how to work hard, and how not to fall through the gap in the pub bar....

DISAPPOINTED

Really like the beginning with David narrating, but disappointed he did not read the entire book... I like autobiographies etc when the actual person reads it themselves.. Its more authentic..

Disappointed

It says it’s narrated by David Jason, introduction by Michael Fenton Stevens. It’s the other way round David only does the introduction..
To hear David read it was the only reason I purchased the audiobook..
Very misleading..

David Jason only speaks at the very beginning.

content is great. first part with David is great too but I thought the main part of the book would be narrated by David and the beginning by Michael but it was the other way around.

Nice to hear

As a fan of david jason it was nice to hear his point of view and thoughts on some issues but all in it was a bit boring. I wouldnt waste money on it but a credit may be ok if your a big fan. Maybe it was the narrator as authors reading their own books is usually much better to listen to

Fantastic!

Absolutely love David Jason, great character actor, what a great career he has had. Always enjoyed everything he has done and I could watch him over and over again. Loved by many and come across as such a nice person. This book is well worth a listen though I would have preferred to have him narrating throughout.

Easy listening

An interesting although brief account of David Jason’s slow burning career. I admire him for his grit and determination in a fickle world where it’s hard to please everyone. An interesting insight to being famous. I liked his reminiscing about life as a boy and it mirrored my own. Loved the memories of queuing to go to the cinema in the 50’s and the innocence of being totally absorbed by the film stars and their characters.

Narration

Disappointed that only the introduction is narrated by the author. Otherwise a good audio book.
