Publisher's Summary

Your child is smart, but does your child believe it?

"Smart" is a power word. Children who believe they're smart excel more in school and approach life with greater confidence. But children who don't can struggle to apply themselves. Do you wish your child could see how smart he or she is?

Find hope in 8 Great Smarts. You'll be empowered and equipped with new language and creative ideas for how to:

  • Accept and affirm your child's unique smarts
  • Motivate your child to learn and study with all eight smarts
  • Reawaken any "paralyzed" smarts
  • Redirect misbehavior in new, constructive ways
  • Guide your child spiritually, relationally, and to a good career fit

Excellently simple, but great info!

I really appreciate and enjoy this book. I have listened to it twice so far and pick up something new every time.
She has a positive perspective of who God made every child to be and encourages us in her book to celebrate that! It’s been a very eye-opening learning experience of all the different ways not just my children but I, myself are smart. I highly recommend it for anyone, whether you are a parent or not. It’s a good listen because she, herself narrates it, and she uses her voice well.

So informative and enlightening!

Not only did I learn how to help my kids better by learning their strengths and smarts, but I also learned more about myself. I gained compassion and respect and I highly recommend this especially for those who have found themselves homeschooling during this pandemic.

So encouraging!

Kathy Koch takes the lid off the box that can often inhibit children's learning. Understanding the 8 great smarts gives hope to kids (and the parents who love them!) who struggle with learning challenges. The information is easy to understand and implement, no matter the age of the learner. It gives a fresh perspective on the term smart and invites the learner to cultivate their strengths and find their own "smarts".

Enlightening book

This was a great book I learned so much about myself as an adult and mom and was able to determine how my kids are smart. I appreciate the practical applications. I'm not confident that the practical applications will help my child that is not word smart or logic smart in school. I think school is going to be challenge for a little longer. However, I do believe a child that is not word smart or logic smart can go to college and be extremely successful. I appreciate the stories in that and it really made my perspective on it stronger which will only enable me to continually encourage and build up my nature/picture/people smart child.

Fascinating and Eye Opening

The 8 Great Smarts was an incredibly eye opening book for me. I have 6 children, all very different. After reading this book, I feel like I can better understand, teach, and love each of my children. Thank you, Kathy Koch!

Changed the way I homeschool.

I use to get so frustrated when some homeschool lessons would be harder to get through to my son. Now I understand why. Understanding what kind of smart my son is has given me an optimistic view of his future. I feel confident that no matter what we battle, as far as learning disabilities, there’s so much smart in my precious son to unlock. I’m challenged to help him unlock all his smarts! Thank you Dr. Kathy
