Publisher's Summary

Scrum is a simple framework that allows us to complete projects, continuously improve, and get an early return on investment.

Author's note: I write this text as a certified scrum master with experience in international blue chip companies dating back to 1999. That experience includes leading projects for the BBC, General Electric, Oracle, BSkyB, Razorfish, and HiT Entertainment (responsible for Angelina Ballerina, Bob the Builder, and other titles that you love watching with your kids or siblings but won't admit to). These roles have all involved leadership on a wealth of mobile, Internet, TV, and web software projects. I have played the role of scrum master and, in the earlier years, of team lead and technical lead. I have had the privilege of running projects and rolling out working practices in market leading organizations from start to finish.

This audiobook gives an overview of scrum, concentrating on why scrum works.

If someone asked you, "Why does anyone even bother using scrum?", how would you answer them? Since the year 2000, I have been asked this question many times, in many different ways, at different companies by people in different roles.

Scrum is a very easy framework to understand but an extremely challenging one to implement. This is not usually because its practices require special aptitude for learning or even years of experience, but because of the emotional, ideological, and other real world challenges that we all face in business.

Realizing how important the answer to the question "Why?" is, I have condensed hours of research and experience into one easy guide. This can be used to recap, up-skill quickly and, most importantly, answer questions for people who want to run their projects more efficiently but do not know why scrum is the right way to go.
