昔、中国に倶胝（ぐてい）という偉い和尚さんがいた。和尚さんは、弟子たちが何を質問しても、ただ指を1本立てるだけ。その意味に気づいた弟子たちは、次々に悟っていったという。 そんな故事から、「誰だって、その気になれば、指を1本立てるのも同じくらい簡単に、百階建てのビルを建てられるんだよ」と著者の大敬さん。そのメカニズムをわかりやすく解説する。
【主なお話】
・「指を立てよう」と思ったら、筋肉が自然に働いて指が立つ。つまり、必要な時に、必要なやり方で全身が協力してくれる。
・宇宙だって、自分の身体だ。必要な時に、必要なやり方で、君の思いを実現しようと宇宙全体が協力してくれる。
・「指を立てるのは簡単だけど、ビルを建てるのは難しい」と思い込んでいる人は、思いの実現がヘタな人。
・思いを実現するのは＜心の力＞。「だったら、心に任せよう」という人は、思いの実現がウマい人。
本巻は「元気アップ禅の会」第178回（2012年9月）でのお話を編集した。

1996年、友人に送った≪しあわせ通信≫が人から人へと広がり、やがて書籍として出版される。根強いファンのために、各地で講演会を開催。福岡県で毎月開催されている「元気アップ禅の会」は、1997年から1回も休むことなく続いている。……そんな講演の数々を、ていねいに編集してお届けする。
講演者：立花大敬（たちばな・だいけい）
1948年大阪生まれ。大阪大学にて生物工学を研究。19歳（大学在学中）で禅に入門。以後、曹洞宗、臨済宗の諸老師に指導を受けてきた。42歳で天命を知る。48歳で≪しあわせ通信≫を開始。著述、講演活動を展開中。「本心庵」から書籍化された『しあわせ通信』シリーズは、一般書店には並べていないにもかかわらず、現在、第十集まで刊行されるほどのロングセラーとなった。ほかに、『劇的に運が良くなるお経 般若心経・延命十句観音経篇』『開運! まいにち神様 大祓詞で最強の「お清め」』（KADOKAWA）、『天界の禅者大いに語る』『悟』『禅』『禅の達人たち』（潮文社）、『大敬詩集』『人生飛行術』『朗読CD版 立花大敬先生 しあわせ通信』（本心庵）がある。
