Critic Reviews

Challenging, original, readable and personal (Oliver Sacks)
Susan Greenfield enthrals and intrigues in equal measure. A force of intellect and a force of nature. (John Humphrys)

Anyone who has read Susan Greenfield's other (non-fiction) books will be familiar with her explorations of consciousness and the mind. This story does the same, but uses imagination to project two directions of our current society forward to their extreme conclusions. Unlike simple admonishments about 'screen-time' or exaltations to mindfulness, her characters depict a complex tension that does not always play out as you expect. The book is grounded in her research and teaching style, but explains all scientific terms as they are first used keeping it accessible. Definitely not a simple leisure book, but an impressive and creative thought experiment that will leave you thinking.
