'A sceptic's guide to meditation . . . I loved it' - Ruby Wax

'An enormously smart, clear-eyed, brave-hearted, and quite a personal look at the benefits of meditation' - Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat Pray Love

We all have an inner narrator. It's what has us losing our temper unnecessarily, checking our emails compulsively, eating when we're not hungry, and fixating on the past and the future at the expense of the present. Most of us assume we're stuck with this voice - but Dan Harris stumbled upon an effective way to quiet his mind.

After having a nationally televised panic attack on Good Morning America, Harris knew he had to make some changes. A lifelong nonbeliever, he found himself on a bizarre adventure involving a disgraced pastor, a mysterious self-help guru, and a gaggle of brain scientists. Eventually, Harris realized that the source of his problems was the very thing he always thought was his greatest asset: the incessant, insatiable voice in his head.

10% Happier is considered a classic text on the power of meditation and an introduction to the practice that can convert even the most hardened sceptic.

Amazing! Im now looking into meditation.

Dan is obviously a true master of the written word and his skepticism and analytical mind is refreshing in the self help genre.

Good read for those sceptical of mindfulness

A clever and often funny story - almost an autobiography of Dan Harris - but his life history provides the context for his transformational journey with learning to meditate.

easy and fun to listen to

The voice is a bit brash but once you tune in for a bit, you get used to it and really enjoy the story. His questions are so relevant to mine and i am glad i find this book. Lots of practical tips to improve your everyday life, i just have to commit to doing it.

A compelling engaging and funny story

Dan's central eploration of the tension between happiness and striving for success is something that other books about meditation don't really touch on. And it's a topic that i think most people are really interested in. As such i found it very insightful. it's a bonus that Dan's story is really interesting and he's quite funny. I highly recommend this for those wanting to tame that voice in their heads.

Nan I be 10% happier?

What a fantastic story. I heard about this book listening to the Unforgiving 60 podcast and I was Intrigued. Dan reads his book with great enthusiasm like noone else could. This book has even convinced this monkey brain to give meditation a try.

nice mix

I really enjoyed this. it was largely a memoir but i found the stories intersecting and it was still very useful with great tips for my own mindfulness journey.

Not a keeper but still very good

A good read with a lively story. I was expecting more stuff about meditation and less about his life story but there was enough nuggets in there to keep me listening.
