成都(せいと)随一の高級旅館、張家楼(ちょうかろう)。
主人は成都屈指の豪商、張家の末息子・(※)〓圭(えんけい)である。
すこぶる病弱な〓圭は、23歳になる今まで幾度となく生死の境をさまよった。
風が吹いては寝込み、雨が降っては寝込む。とにかく体が弱いのである。
ある日、久しぶりに体調がよく市をそぞろ歩いていると、
売卜者(占い師)のような男から突然声をかけられる。
いわく、〓圭は幽鬼、妖魅のたぐいを引き寄せる体質で、そのために不調が出るのだと。
半信半疑の〓圭だが、彼にお祓いをしてもらうと、確かに調子がいい。
それを知った〓圭の父親は、どういうわけか、売卜者の娘を嫁にもらえと言いだした!
戸惑う〓圭をよそに結婚話は進み、いよいよ娘はやってきた。
――そう、色とりどりに輝く雲に乗り、空の上から。
天女とみまがう美しい少女は〓圭に歩みよると、
「人間の花婿なんて今時、流行らないわ」と言い放つ。
どうやら彼女は「人」ではないらしい……。
