 福岡市西部、博多湾と玄界灘を仕切る砂州・海の中道の先に、志賀島がある。ここは、漢の皇帝より奴の国王に贈られた金印が発見された地として、名高い。この島は、金印が発見されるにふさわしく、古代には海洋氏族・阿曇氏の根拠地であり、彼らが崇める海の神を祀った志賀海神社がある。顔に貝殻が付着して醜かったという「安曇磯良」の不思議な伝説もある。阿曇氏は、古代のある時期、志賀島から全国各地へ展開する。彼らが定着した土地には、氏族の名が付けられた。滋賀県の安曇川や、愛知県の渥美半島、福島県の安積原野などがそうだという。ここに見えるように、海洋氏族でありながら内陸にも展開した。その典型が、長野県の安曇野である。安曇野の穂高神社は、山に囲まれた信州にあって海神を祀り、船形の山車「御船」をぶつけ合う「御船祭」など、海洋氏族の名残を留める神事もある。一方、古代の安曇野には、坂上田村麻呂に討たれた「まつろわぬ者」八面大王の伝説もある。朝廷に食を奉る氏族でありながら、どこか異形の影がつきまとう、全国展開した海洋氏族・阿曇氏の足跡を追う。語り:高橋御山人 聞き役:盛池雄峰(C)2015 リブラ・エージェンシー Travel Writing & Commentary
