 前回に引き続いて、御山人が青春18きっぷを使い行った一人大学卒業旅行。 その最終到達地は、日本海に突き出た、秋田県・男鹿半島。 この地に伝わる「なまはげ」を求めて、半島中心部の山間にある真山神社を訪ねる。 併設の伝承館では「なまはげ」来訪の実演も行われる真山神社には、 こんな習俗と伝承がある。 ○祭礼の日、山から「なまはげ」が降りて来る ○「なまはげ」は家々を訪れ、怠け者を責めて暴れ回る ○一方では、五穀豊穣、家内安全などの福や富をもたらす「神の使い」でもある ○ゆえに、真山神社の鬼には角がない しかしこれは、あくまでも真山神社の「なまはげ」の話。 男鹿半島一帯に伝わる「なまはげ」は、場所によって言い伝えや姿も異なる。 特に注目すべきなのが、半島南西部沿岸の赤神神社。 ここにはまた別の伝承がある。 ●漢の武帝が、海の彼方より五匹のこうもりを連れて来た ●そのこうもりが鬼となり、村を荒らし回る ●困った村人は鬼らと賭けをし、知略によって退散させる ●赤神神社の五社堂はその鬼らを祀り、これが「なまはげ」の起源という 「なまはげ」のような来訪神とは何なのか?古代における「未知との遭遇」とは?卒業式前日、自らマレビトと化して追う、彼方より寄り来る「異類」たちの足跡。 語り:高橋御山人 聞き役:盛池雄峰2014 リブラ・エージェンシー Travel Writing & Commentary
