 かつて漬物生産量日本一を誇った屈指の漬物生産県・愛知のあま市には、全国で唯一「漬物の祖神」を祀るという萱津神社（かやづじんじゃ）が鎮座する。伝承によれば、かつて海岸線であったこの地で、野菜とともに海から取れる塩を一緒に供えたところ、自然に漬物が出来、この地を訪れた日本武尊は、それを誉め称えたという。通常、強い臭いを発する植物を避けるのが神社であるが、ここでは境内で漬物が漬けられている。黄金の「漬物の女神像」も立っている。祭神・カヤノヒメミコトは、記紀神話に登場する草の神で、「野の霊」という意味の野槌（ノヅチ）という別名もある。野槌は、後世零落し、目鼻がなく、口だけの蛇体の妖怪とされた。野槌に似ているために名付けられたのが「ツチノコ」だ。同じ旧甚目寺町内には「塗り物の祖神」を祀る漆部神社（ぬりべじんじゃ）が鎮座する。極めて珍しい、特定産業の祖神を祀る神社に、古代尾張の産業の発展が感じられる。瀬戸、常滑と、古から窯業も盛んで（どちらも日本六古窯）、天下人たる信長、秀吉、家康を生み、戦後日本の繁栄を支えたトヨタを擁する産業立県・愛知。そのルーツを神社に見る。語り：高橋御山人　聞き役：盛池雄峰(C)高橋御山人2015 Travel Writing & Commentary
