 津軽半島北西部、日本海と繋がる十三湖は、古くは十三湊と呼ばれ、中世には日本の十大港湾に数えられる程に繁栄した。ここを拠点とした安東氏は、北海道にも進出し、和人とアイヌとの間の交易を取り持った（本シリーズ其之参拾参参照）。安東氏が南部氏に津軽を追われた後は衰えたが、大規模な宗教施設の遺構が発見されている山王坊日吉神社など、往時を偲ぶ神社仏閣や遺跡が、周辺に多数残っている。安東氏は、後に秋田氏となり、奥州三春藩主として明治まで続いているが、特異な家系伝承を伝えており、前九年の役で討たれた安倍氏、さらに神武天皇に討たれた長髄彦の兄・安日まで遡るという。相内の神明宮は、かつて長髄神社と呼ばれ、長髄彦を葬った場所とも言われる。境内には縄文時代の貝塚があり、人骨が発見されている。昭和末期には、こうした伝承を過剰に膨らませ、古代の日本には西の大和朝廷に対する東の荒吐王国があったとする「東日流外三郡誌」が発表され、学界に騒動を巻き起こした。本書は科学的に偽書である事が確定しているが、一方で本書により古代の東北、津軽が脚光を浴びたのも事実である。それは、高橋御山人の生涯にも強い影響を及ぼした。偽りであっても、絶大なパワーを持つ「コンテンツ」には違いないのである。「パワーを発する」コンテンツ・百社巡礼、ここに完結！(C)高橋御山人2016 Travel Writing & Commentary
