 京都府丹後地方、日本三景・天橋立のすぐ北側に、丹後一宮・元伊勢籠神社（このじんじゃ）が建つ。伊勢の神宮・外宮の豊受姫神は、元々ここに鎮座していたとされ、天照大神も、宮中から出て伊勢の内宮に鎮まる前に、ここに数年祀られたという。宮司を代々世襲する海部氏は、神話に遡る非常に古い家柄であり、社宝にして国宝のその家系図は、現存では日本最古のもの。神社に受け継がれた二枚の鏡はそれぞれ前漢・後漢のものであり、出土品ではない伝世鏡としては、これも日本最古。また、元伊勢内宮・外宮と称する神社は、天橋立の南に聳える大江山の山中にも別にあり、「天の岩戸」も存在する。一方、大江山は、酒呑童子伝説で有名な鬼の住む山。しかも、大江山の「鬼」はそれだけではない。大和朝廷黎明期には、土蜘蛛・陸耳御笠（くがみみのみかさ）が丹後じゅうを転戦し大江山に入って消息不明になったといい、聖徳太子の弟・麻呂子皇子（まろこのみこ）が、大江山の悪鬼、英胡（えいこ）・軽足（かるあし）・土熊（つちぐま）を討ったという。伊勢の神宮発祥の地にして、三つの時代に渡り鬼が跋扈する魔界。聖と魔の交錯する根源に、古代「丹後王国」の繁栄を見る。(C)高橋御山人2015 Travel Writing & Commentary
