公演後のサーカス小屋は酒宴で盛り上がっていた。小人の緑さんは一人酔っぱらって、大賑わいの輪から離れて、舞台の隅からその様子を眺めていた。 すると猿股男が「一緒に飲め」と緑さんを無理に誘ったが、酒の飲めない緑さんは誘いを断った。
気分を悪くした猿股男は緑さんを無理やり捕まえると、酒樽の中に頭から突っ込んだ。一座の皆もその様をゲラゲラ笑ってはやし立てた。
緑さんへの一座の悪ふざけはエスカレートしていき、いつの間にか緑さんの心の中にはどす黒い感情がふつふつと湧き上がる。狂乱の宴の中で……
