柳川にあった大きくて古い祖父母の家に法事で親戚一同が大勢集まっていた時のことだ。夕食の最中、ご先祖様はどのようにしてあの世から帰ってくるのだろうという話になった時、天国の扉が開いてそこから帰ってくる、中には霊柩車に乗って帰ってくることもあるという話を聞いていた時、ふと気配を感じて大きな土間に目を向けるとあろうことか、大きな霊柩車が音もなく屋内に入ってきたという。
もちろん現実の世界のそれではない。
