Iさんは学生時代とても仲のいい二人の友人がいて、三人はいつも連れ立っておりましたから周囲からは「三羽烏」などと言われておりました。
しかし高校卒業を機にF君は東京の大学に、K君は大阪の工場に、Iさんは地元神戸に残って稼業の工務店を引き継いでと、ばらばらになってしまったそうです。
そうこうするうちK君の訃報が届きました。悪い女につかまり多額の借金を背負わされた上にその女は姿をくらまし、将来を悲観しての自殺でした。すぐにF君に連絡をと思っていたのですが、F君は大学を休学し海外支援のプロジェクトに参加していて連絡が付きませんでした。
一人で葬儀に参列してからしばらく、風の噂でF君が地元に戻っていると知ってIさんは会いに行ったのですが……。©2021 Wataru shirotani
