人は戦争に負けたから堕落するのではない。人であるからこそ堕落するのであり、生きているから堕落する。
敗戦後、日本古来の文化が廃れつつあると憂う声があったが、昔からの文化に固執していては、新たな道を見つけ出すことは出来ないのだ。
もし、今の文化を捨てることを堕落と呼ぶのであれば、堕ちきってしまえばいい。
逆説的な表現で敗戦直後の人々に衝撃を与え、絶大な支持を得た作品が朗読で今よみがえる。
