一人生き残った葉蔵は家族からも勘当され、苦しい生活を送ります。
女性と出会い、別れ、そんな生活をしているうちに葉蔵は、一人の女性と出会い、少しずつ変わっていきます。
しかし、その女性を内縁の妻に迎え、幸せな生活を送る葉蔵に、さらなる衝撃が襲います。
そしてそれを境に、また葉蔵の生活は、激変していくのです。
