＜第十回 出征兵士の妻＞
前回につづいて〈三吏三別〉から一首、「新婚の別れ」を取り上げます。
新婚間もない夫婦のもとにも、徴発の手は容赦なく伸び、夫は叛軍と戦うため激戦地の河陽に出征してゆきます。この詩はそれを見送る若妻の心境を、妻自身の立場に立って詠んだもの。抑えかねる名残惜しさをおしとどめ、夫を激励し、“離れていても心は一つ”と結ぶところは胸に迫ります。
〈三吏三別〉全体について少し触れておきますと、〈三吏〉は「新安の吏」「潼関（どうかん）の吏」「石壕の吏」の三首で、さまざまな場所で官吏に徴発される人々の様子を描き、〈三別〉は「新婚の別れ」「衰老の別れ」「無家の別れ」の三首で、それぞれ新婚夫婦、老夫婦、身寄りのない老人が出征に直面するさまを、当事者の口を借りる形で詠んでいるのです。

昭和二十九年、東京生まれ。早稲田大学大学院文学研究科博士課程修了、文学博士。現在、共立女子大学国際学部教授。著書に『中国古典詩歌の手法と言語』（研文出版）『漢詩の歴史』（東方出版）『漢詩の事典』（共著、大修館書店）など。平成十九年、NHKラジオ「古典講読――漢詩」講師、平成二十年より同「漢詩をよむ」講師。
