愛する笑いを突き詰めて、笑わせたい一心でおもしろさを表現しているだけなのに、観客からは「怖い」「不気味」「気持ち悪い」と言われ続けた。好きなことを表現しているだけなのに、なぜだ？ 笑いは明るく楽しいものでなくてはいけないのか？
芸人として懸命に活動する中で、常に世間との相容れなさを痛感する日々。彼は言う。「この世界は難しすぎる」と。また、そんな“難しすぎる世界”は、彼をこう呼ぶ。岩崎う大は「鬼才」だと。
早稲田大学時代に参加したコントグループ「WAGE」で学生芸人としてデビュー。その後、現在の相方・槙尾ユウスケと「かもめんたる」を結成。2013年には『キングオブコント2013』で優勝。さらに、2015年に旗揚げした「劇団かもめんたる」では、2年連続で岸田國士戯曲賞に最終ノミネート。
しかし、華々しい経歴とは裏腹に、テレビのバラエティ番組ではなぜか結果を出せない。明るく楽しく振る舞えない。あぁ……難しすぎる。
