 今の若者は「やるべきこと」「やりたいこと」に関心を持つけれど、自分が「やれること」にはあまり関心を持ちたがらないようです。しかし、これからの世の中で生き残るために必要なことは、「自分は何をやれるのか」を知ることではないでしょうか。 この問いの中で私がいちばん興味を惹かれたのは、今の若者は「やるべきこと」「やりたいこと」には関心があるが、「やれること」には関心がない、という対比における助動詞の使い方でした。 これはなかなかいいところを衝(つ)いています。 英語で書いたらshouldとwould like toとcanですね。「ねばならぬ」「したい」と「できる」の対比です。ちょっと古めかしい文法用語で言うと、「当為(とう い)」「願望」と「可能」です。 ざっくり言い切ってしまうと、次のようなことになります。 動詞に「当為」と「願望」の助動詞をつけて話すのが「子ども」で、動詞に「可能」の助動詞をつけて話すのが「大人」である。（本文より） 内田樹＆平川克美「大人の条件」はこちらから→http://yakan-hiko.com/uchida.html©Taturu Uchida, (P) 2016 Audible, Inc.
