في قصيدته "ذاكرة القرصان"، التي اختارها الشاعر عنواناً لديوانه، يبدو أنّه القرصان الوحيد الذي يسكنه حسن الظنّ. فالعشيقة نهبت أشياء منه من دون أن يدري. ويصف قرصانه بذاك الذي تسكنه شهوة المرأة:
التي ستطبع قبلة على الخدّ
هي نفسها
التي تسرق ريشة
من قبّعة القرصان
والقرصان يظنّ الأغصان
أيادي عشيقاته الغريقات
المبتعدة كالسفن الهاربة
على عين الماء الحلوة البعيدة
يشتهي راقصة
تذوب في عريها…
إنه ذلك الذي على رغم جبروته وشخصيته القيادية، يهتزّ قلبه عند زوال الأقنعة: الذي يرتجف قليلاً
ليس الزجاج عند القذيفة
ولا السكّين فوق نحر الأنبياء
هو القلب فقط
إذا تمزّقت الأقنعة.
