"מאה חורפים" הוא סאגה משפחתית רחבת-יריעה שתחילתה בחורף שנת 1883 באחוזת הרוזן גריז'נובסקי שביערות פולין, וסופה בתל אביב של סוף המאה העשרים.

בבוקר חורפי אחד יוצאת פאני המשרתת ליער ומוצאת שם נער מוטל על האדמה הלחה. בין הנער לפאני נרקמת מערכת יחסים שהיא תחילתה של שושלת משפחתית ענפה. מכאן והלאה נסחף הקורא ועוקב אחר גיבורי הסיפורי, שאורגים יחד — וכל אחד לחוד — מארג סבוך של נטישות כואבות ואהבות ששורדות גם אחרי הסערה.
