Тролльчонок Вася до сих пор не может сдать экзамен по пакостному вредительству. Его семья переехала на лето из-под Аничкова моста на Петроградскую сторону, живут они недалеко от зоопарка — и Вася с Василисой проводят там много времени. Однажды Вася и Василиса наблюдают странную картину: со стороны Петропавловки поднимается вертолёт, из окна которого торчит длинная шея жирафа. Друзья думают, что это им от жары померещилось. Но на следующее утро Василиса узнаёт от бабушки, что все газеты пишут про исчезновение из зоопарка некоторых животных. Вася и Василиса решают провести своё расследование...
