Юрий Карлович Олеша написал свое самое известное произведение - сказку "Три толстяка" в 1924 году. После этого к писателю пришла слава и популярность, но, к сожалению, ненадолго. Выступление Ю. Олеши в защиту Дмитрия Шостаковича композитору не помогло, но писателю навредило. В 1936 году на публикацию произведений Юрия Олеши, а также на упоминание его имения в печати был наложен запрет, снятый властями только в 1956 году.
Именно тогда были изданы "Избранные сочинения" писателя и переизданы "Три толстяка" - романтическая сказка о девочке-кукле Суок, канатоходце Тибуле, оружейнике Просперо и наследнике Тутти и о борьбе восставшего народа против злых угнетателей - Трех Толстяков.
