Кажется, у Юрая появилось новое редкое качество: он в буквальном смысле слова притягивает к себе всевозможные неприятности и несчастья. Не успев до конца оправиться после инцидента с Сулемой, восстанавливая силы и здоровье на даче давнего друга Леона Градского он снова оказывается в самой гуще невероятных событий. На соседнем участке, из дома именитого режиссера бесследно исчезает его молодая жена. Дочь, приехавшую на поиски матери, находят мертвой. Милиция считает произошедшее банальным несчастным случаем.
