Спустя полгода после выхода первого издания "Фаворита" из редакции поступила просьба повторить стереотипное издание при условии, что автор пожертвует часть гонорара в Советский фонд защиты мира. Валентин Саввич был возмущен. Он уже не раз жертвовал средства и в фонды, и на храмы, но сам, по движению своей души, а с диктатом неприкрытого вымогательства встретился впервые. Гонорар был отдан полностью, и в 1985 году вышло второе издание романа. А дальше неудержимый "Фаворит" продолжил свое шествие, игнорируя все преграды и препятствия.
