"Посмертные записки Пиквикского клуба" - первый роман английского писателя Чарльза Диккенса, впервые выпущенный издательством "Чепмен и Холл" в 1836-1837 годах. Вместо того чтобы по предложению издателя Уильяма Холла писать сопроводительный текст к серии картинок художника-иллюстратора Роберта Сеймура, Диккенс создал роман о клубе чудаков, путешествующих по Англии и наблюдающих "человеческую природу". Такой замысел позволил писателю изобразить в своём произведении нравы старой Англии и многообразие человеческих типов.
